A honey wagon is the term commonly used in the UK film and television industry for a portable toilet facility. At JB Toilet Hire, our specialist luxury toilet trailers are designed specifically to provide high-quality, reliable facilities for productions.
In particular, when location filming takes place away from permanent amenities, honey wagon hire is a practical solution that keeps everyone comfortable, maintains privacy and helps prevent unnecessary downtime.
Honey wagon hire providing privacy and comfort on set
Film and TV production days can be long, with early call times, tight schedules and plenty of waiting between takes. Having clean, comfortable toilet facilities close to the action makes a noticeable difference to the experience of everyone on set.
Unlike standard portable toilets, luxury portable toilet hire provides spacious interiors, flushing ceramic toilets, hot and cold running water, heating in all but the smallest units, well-lit mirrors and quality consumables. These details may sound small, but they give cast and crew somewhere private and comfortable to take a break when needed.
This is particularly valuable for performers, hair and make-up teams and production staff who may need a little more privacy during a busy shooting day.

Honey wagon hire keeps production moving
When facilities are off-site, toilet breaks can quickly become a logistical issue. In a city location, public facilities may be some distance away or unable to cope with a large production crew. On a rural or remote shoot, there may be no suitable facilities nearby at all.
Toilet hire for filming puts dedicated facilities directly on location, reducing unnecessary journeys and helping everyone stay where they need to be. This can be particularly important when schedules are tight or filming continues into the evening or overnight. Honey wagons can also help take pressure off public facilities when shooting in busy urban areas.
For production managers looking for honey wagon hire in London, this flexibility can be especially useful. A suitable trailer can provide dedicated facilities for cast and crew without relying on the infrastructure of the surrounding location.
Choosing the right honey wagon
Every production is different, so it is important to choose a unit that matches the size and requirements of your cast and crew. At JB Toilet Hire, we offer a range of luxury toilet trailers, including multi-cubicle configurations suitable for larger productions and units that can be used as single-gender or gender-neutral facilities.
Accessibility should also form part of the planning process. Choosing appropriate accessible toilet facilities helps production teams provide an inclusive working environment for everyone involved.
For shoots requiring washing facilities as well as toilets, JB Toilet Hire also supplies mobile shower units, giving production managers another practical option for locations without suitable permanent amenities.
Honey wagon hire - a reliable solution for demanding shoots
Weather and location create additional challenges. During winter filming, heated luxury toilet trailers provide a warmer, more comfortable environment, while units with their own water supply can be used where mains services are unavailable.
The same flexibility is useful for city-centre filming, remote locations and longer productions where dependable facilities are essential. Our guide to honey wagon hire covers the different types of units available and what to consider when planning your hire.
