Portable toilet hire for music festivals

While the reputation of facilities at music festivals has given them a bad press, they are on the up, with the introduction of luxury portable toilet hire. We look at the choice of festival toilet hire now available.

Part of the fabric of British music culture, the outdoor festival attracts millions of visitors every year (2.77m in 2015). Sadly, however, the quality of the toilet facilities provided hasn’t always matched the calibre of the performers, but organisers have begun to understand the need for quality, luxury toilets in sufficient numbers. Not only do they reduce queues but they save the land the festivals occupy from destruction, by people with nowhere else to ‘go’.

Things to consider when booking festival toilet hire

The following are considerations for anyone considering luxury toilet hire for an event – at JB Event Facilities, we understand the challenges facing organisers and can offer extra advice wherever needed.

How many toilets do I need?

This is a common question for anyone looking to hire multiple units for public events and our article has lots of guidance. However, while the government’s advice is one toilet for every 75 females and one for every 400 males at events serving food and drink, we would suggest a better ratio to give attendees the best experience.

How often do you need to empty a portable toilet?

Where an event lasts for several days then the chances are the portable toilets will need to be emptied at some point. When booking with JB Event Facilities, we can arrange for experienced service technicians to attend the site, empty the units, clean them where required, and restock them with consumables. It goes without saying that the fewer units there are, the more often they will require servicing.

When to arrange portable toilet hire

Book as early as possible! Luxury toilet hire is in demand all year round but demand peaks during the summer as it is the height of the festival and wedding seasons. This can result in our most popular units being snapped up  early, so contacting us as soon as your dates and venue are finalised will help to avoid disappointment.

How much space do I need?

The space available for portable toilets is key. All our individual toilet unit descriptions feature unit dimensions and mains utility requirements to help you decide on the best combination. We would always advise that toilets be positioned around the venue site, rather than be clustered in one area. This avoids people rushing to the toilets from wherever they are, and having to queue and potentially miss their favourite bands. Generally our units need level ground which our sales team can advise on, with sufficient access for delivery vehicles.

What toilet units do I need?

Single event plastic toilet - our standalone, single event plastic toilet is a common sight at festivals and can be hired in bulk and installed quickly and easily.

However, as festival-goers’ expectations rise, organisers should consider other types of portable toilet hire, so that their event sticks in people’s minds for all the right reasons.

Luxury toilet hire – luxury toilet hire can be provided for performers and VIP guests, and  encompasses a wide selection of toilet types, to service up to 450+ people over an 8-hour period.

Urinals - these are available as a luxury urinal or a 6 man urinal and are perfect for positioning close to refreshment posts, to keep queues moving and to free up the trailer units for female guests.

Portable disabled toilets - organisers need to ensure accessibility compliance so to ensure your event is fully inclusive, there is a plastic accessible toilet to hire as well as luxury accessible toilet unit. Each features a baby changing station, making them ideal for family-friendly festivals.

Luxury vacuum pod toilets – perfect for organisers that are concerned with the carbon footprint of their events, luxury vacuum pods are available in single gender units and as a vacuum urinal. They use up to 90% less water than a traditional flushing toilet and are 100% chemical-free. They can be emptied quickly, without the toilets having to be taken out of service.
